My little space on the Internet
Nice to meet you!
I am a current student at the University of Michigan , studying Computer Science Engineering. This summer, while I am not in school, I am living in Ann Arbor to intern for Olark , a Y-Combinator alumni company based in Palo Alto, with strong ties to Michigan. I am also heavily involved in the startup community in Ann Arbor and elsewhere, devoting any time that I have to organizations such as CommonPlace USA and Thru.im.
The focus of my work in the computer science field has been to change the way that people interact with others through the use of technology. Services like Facebook have made enormous strides towards making computers an extension of one's social life, but have still left a void in the area. My work with CommonPlace is geared towards connecting people with their communities, digressing from the typical social networking model of connecting people to other individuals. These are the types of networking models that I find incredibly intrigueing and challenging; as a society, we have become so used to individual-to-individual connectivity thanks to Facebook and its breatheren, and it has begun to affect our face-to-face interactions as well. But I digress...
When I am not thinking about ways to solve social issues through technology, or implementing such solutions, I can probably be found playing my trumpet, which has been a critical pilliar of my life thus far. I also dabble a little bit in composition and arranging whenever time permits.
